Learn About Audio Engineering

There are many people who are still on the fence in regards to audio engineering truly being a form of engineering. Audio Recording Institute is an accredited college offering programs in audio engineering. If you hold a degree in audio engineering, you have the chance to work in many aspects of audio technology including movie soundtrack production, video game soundtrack production, musical recordings, theater sound affects, commercials, and more. Those with a passion for music and digital recording technology will love the field of audio engineering.

With the audio engineering program at Audio Recording Institute, students work within the school's audio recording industry to get hands on training. The audio engineering curriculum entails a music engineering module that covers the process of recording live vocals and instruments to create masters that can then be altered using the computer. Sound For Television covers using computer software to add soundtracks to television productions (such as the laugh track) or special effects. The institute teams up with other area colleges to provide students with hands-on training creating the special sound effects for video games. Post audio production is another course involved in this audio engineering program. Here students learn how to take the master of a movie, television show, video game, or commercial and add effects or clear up vocals or other sounds using computer programs. The audio engineering program is quite rigorous, but can be incredible fun for students.

During the audio engineering program, students will learn about sound, audio equipment, signal flows, sessions, mix downs, live recordings, and microphone theory. Other topics include EQ theory, digital audio, processors, troubleshooting mic techniques, mixing techniques, MIDI, propellerheads, sequencing, loops, audio computer software, automation, surround sound, sound effects, dialog, Foley recording, plug-ins, and final editing work. The institute requires all students to spend at least eighty hours in the sound lab working on projects ensuring that their hands on education cannot be topped.
